I have been happy to notice that the term earthing is increasingly popping up in social media and various articles online. But, what is earthing, and why practice it? What kind of feelings and experiences does it bring? And, can it affect health? How to practice earthing? Among other things, I will go through these issues in this post.

What is earthing,
and why practice it?

Earthing means contact to the ground. In a way that there is nothing between the earth and the foot (for instance), such as shoes. The easiest way to connect to the earth is to walk barefoot and thus connect to nature’s energy. Numerous studies have shown that this simple and primitive procedure reduces chronic pain, fatigue, lowers blood pressure, and elevates mood.

When bare feet or skin contact the earth, free electrons absorb into the body from the earth’s surface. These electrons can be considered nature’s most extraordinary antioxidants and help in neutralizing harmful free radicals. Because our bodies are mostly water and minerals, together, they are excellent conductors of the earth’s electrons. The only condition for this is direct contact with the ground.

The energy of the earth improves the physiology of the body. Thus the body endures and repairs itself. It is a way to promote well-being, and also among other things, the quality of sleep. Earthing is beneficial for everyone, regardless of age or gender.

Why is earthing essential?

An enormous amount of electrons on the earth’s surface give the soil a natural negative charge. Touching the ground seems to synchronize your body with the natural frequencies of the earth. In addition, the energy of the ground has been found to play an important role, e.g., cortisol secretion.

Studies show that disconnection is a significant factor when it comes to physiological dysfunction and discomfort. The connection to nature and everything around us is vital, although today’s rhythm of life has alienated us from nature and the connection to the earth’s energy. As important as vitamin D from the sun is also the contact to the ground. It is essential to understand all that land gives us; fresh air, water, and food. The earth provides us with the surface on which we live.

Not only shoes but also plastics, synthetic fabrics, asphalt, carpets, etc., prevent a natural connection to the ground. In addition, the amounts of radiation around us affect our lives, forming a sea of electronic radiation. And this radiation constantly burdens us with extra free radicals, causing damage to our tissues and cells.

Grounding affects how your body absorbs electrons, allowing you to stay or recover at the same frequency as the ground.

Ways to practice earthing

You can practice earthing by walking barefoot on the grass or sand. The recommendation for this is half an hour. However, I always try to think about it so that a little is better than not at all. That is, time isn’t something you should get fixated on. The main thing is that you try, even for a little while.

You can also lay on the ground, sand on the beach, grass, or rock. Mending the garden with bare hands also creates a unique touch to the ground. Hugging the trees, yes, that will help you too. I sense the most incredible wisdom in trees, and walking through particular forests makes it possible to feel this wisdom.

Earthing does not have to take place on land, but you can also get the same energy in water. Swimming or floating in the ocean or lake creates a similar touch to the earth’s energy as walking barefoot.

Health benefits

There are numerous studies about earthing, especially from the perspective of its health effects. Walking barefoot reduces inflammatory conditions, pain, and stress. It also improves circulation, energy levels, and sleep quality and increases well-being. Indeed, researchers attribute increased chronic diseases, immune disorders, and inflammatory diseases to one of the causes of “ground disconnection.”

Studies have revealed that contact with the ground brings surprisingly rapid and robust anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.

The grounding of the human body would appear to be essential for overall health. It can be considered significant as sunshine, clean air, water, nutritious food, and exercise.
